Postmenopausal women more susceptible to BPA
Correlating with an earlier post on the postmenopausal increase of inflammatory cytokines, this study of 485 adults documented a significant increase in markers for oxidative stress and inflammation on exposure to Bisphenol A (BPA) in the postmenopausal cohort only. The increase was not apparent in premenopausal women or men. "The findings of this study suggest that BPA exposure would promote oxidative stress and inflammation, in which postmenopausal women are likely to be more susceptible to BPA-induced health effects."
