U.S. Physicians Overuse Pap Testing

A federally funded survey newly published in the Annals of Internal Medicine reports that only about one fifth of U.S. doctors follow the cervical cancer screening guidelines that have been in place since 2003. Their conclusion: "Primary care physicians' recommendations for Pap test screening are not consistent with screening guidelines, reflecting overuse of screening."
